Fees
The trading fee on each pair type, what the pair fee pays for, and a worked example.
| Pair type | Coin fee | Pair fee | Total per trade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native pair | 1% | none | 1% |
| Cross-chain pair | 1% | 1.5% | 2.5% |
Fees are charged in SOL on buys and sells.
The pair fee
The 1.5% pair fee on cross-chain pairs goes into that coin's own reserve. It is what lets the reserve keep paying sellers when the pair coin rises on its home chain, and it makes trading against a stale price unprofitable. See The coin reserve and Prices and freshness.
A worked example
A trader buys 10 SOL of a coin on a cross-chain pair.
| Item | SOL |
|---|---|
| Coin fee (1%) | 0.10 |
| Pair fee (1.5%), added to the coin's reserve | 0.15 |
| SOL that buys the coin | 9.75 |
The same 10 SOL buy on a native pair pays 0.10 SOL and buys with 9.90 SOL.
The split of the 1% coin fee between the coin's creator and Pair is set in the Pair program and listed here when the program is deployed.
